Clugston Construction, one of the North’s leading privately owned construction companies, with offices in the North East, has recently started work on a £4 million project in Middlesbrough, at Beechwood/Marton Grove.

The contract, which was awarded by Middlesbrough Borough Council, involves Clugston Construction creating a new classroom block and main entrance, alongside extensive refurbishment and re-roofing of existing parts of the school. The company will also be installing a new external multi use games area.

The project is being managed from Clugston Construction’s North East office in Hebburn. It is estimated that up to 70 people, most of whom will be from the local community, will be employed on the development during the course of the contract.

Clugston Construction will ensure that the works have minimal impact on the school. Unavoidable noisy operations for example, are being carried out at times that will least effect teaching. The company is also engaging directly with pupils by providing safety assemblies and organising competitions, such as a prize for the best designed mural hoarding.

Steve Waggett, Clugston Construction’s North East regional manager said,

“We are delighted to have been awarded the contract by Middlesbrough Borough Council. It’s a reflection of the quality of work we have completed in the region, in the past.”

The works are due to be completed in September 2011.
