EMSc (UK) Limited, manufacturer of the innovative Powerstar voltage optimisation system, is pleased to announce it was recently shortlisted for the Innovation Award at the Made in Sheffield Awards 2011.

The Innovation Award, sponsored by Sheffield Hallam University, recognises businesses, which through intellectual property, generated a substantial commercial benefit from an innovative product or process that is designed and manufactured in the Sheffield city region.

Many Yorkshire based companies, and Made in Sheffield mark companies, already benefit from the Powerstar technology, including the actual winner of the innovation Award, AESSEAL.

AESSEAL has seen an energy saving of nearly 8% since the installation of Powerstar and has also seen a reduction in carbon emissions.

Other Powerstar clients include Pegler Yorkshire, ISG Totty Construction, RWE Npower and ASDA, amongst others.

Alex Mardapittas, managing director, at EMSc (UK) Ltd, commented,

“We are proud to have been shortlisted for another Innovation Award. It is not too disappointing to have been beaten to second place by AESSEAL, the world’s 4th largest seal manufacturer. Like us AESSEAL has Innovation at the heart of its business. Well done AESSEAL.”

The event, which took place in late March at Cutlers Hall in Sheffield, celebrated both manufacturers and manufacturing in the Sheffield city region.

Made in Sheffield is one of the world’s great brands, made famous internationally as a mark of origin and quality on the city’s manufactured products. In order to be awarded the Mark, a company must demonstrate their commitment to producing high-quality goods.
