Clugston Construction, one of the UK’s leading privately owned construction companies and part of the Clugston Group, has announced plans to extend its long standing relationship with process technology company CNIM (Constructions industrielles de la Méditerranée) to identify and develop biomass facilities across the UK.
The two companies have already worked together on a number of energy and sustainability projects in the past and are currently building five waste to energy plants in the UK as well as the 25 MWe biomass facility at Ridham Dock, in Kent.
The plant at Ridham Dock will streamline the intake of around 164,000 tonnes of woodchip waste per annum, which will generate 188 million kilowatt hours of electricity a year – enough to cover the electricity consumption of 60,000 households.
Paul Gouland, marketing director Clugston Construction commented: “Limiting environmental impact is high on our agenda and we are very excited to be working with our long standing partner on new biomass opportunities. Together with CNIM we have the opportunity and the resources to help deliver sustainable heat and electricity across the UK.”
Bernard Bourée biomass project director CNIM– “Biomass is one of the most abundant sources of renewable energy and we have over 50 years experience in biomass projects around the world. Biomass treatment provides an effective answer to the concerns of various economic stakeholders around the world with regard to sustainable development”.
