The Todmorden Head Office and manufacturing facility which is part of Weir Minerals Europe has won the prestigious health and safety award for innovative workplace practices.
The facility received the regional award at this year’s EEF Future Manufacturing Awards, for the Health and Safety category, which celebrates good health and safety practice in the workplace.
The panel of judges, made up of business leaders, industry experts and academics, was impressed with the way employee engagement was used to promote a culture of health and safety excellence throughout the company.
Weir Minerals Todmorden will now go forward to compete for the national EEF Future Manufacturing Awards, Health and Safety category, which will be awarded at a gala awards dinner in London in January 2018.
The company, which employs 412 staff at its foundry in Todmorden, manufactures wear-resistant, highly engineered products to include the renowned Warman® slurry pumps, Cavex® hydrocyclones and Isogate® valves which are suitable for a diverse range of sectors including mining and minerals processing, aggregates, water and industry in general.
