Driving better road safety awareness – Clugston Distribution organises local Road Safety Week event

Clugston Distribution Services, part of the privately owned Clugston Group and one of the UK’s leading independent logistics companies, has organised a road safety event in conjunction with North Lindsey College.

It will be held at the North Lindsey College event centre on 21st November as part of “Road Safety Week”, an annual event founded by Brake, the road safety charity and which takes place across the UK.

Clugston will be displaying one of its bulk road tankers at the entrance to the college and will have members of staff and apprentices on hand throughout the day to promote key aspects of road safety to students and visitors.

Alongside Clugston, there will be a host of organisations also supporting the initiative, including North Lincolnshire Council, Humber Road Safety and RoSPA Lincolnshire. There will also be representatives from AON, a local cycle store and a local driving school.

The event is open from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm to North Lindsey students only who will take part in several workshops and initiatives, and after 2:00 pm it will be opened to the Public until 3:00 pm.

The theme for Road Safety Week 2018 is ‘Bike Smart’, a campaign focused on raising awareness about the importance of protecting cyclists and motorcyclists on our roads. Bike riders are among the most vulnerable road users in the UK, with more than 100 riders injured every day in needless, preventable crashes.

Clugston Distribution Director Tim Doggett said: “Road Safety Week is a very worthwhile annual campaign which is especially relevant to us this year as it directly relates to our work in raising safety awareness for road users on two wheels. This forms part of our ongoing commitment to continually improve road safety for all our employees and members of the public.

“This year, we are excited to take the campaign on the road, working in partnership with North Lindsey College. We are hoping the event will particularly promote road safety and awareness to a younger audience, some of whom may be learning to how to drive or ride a motorcycle, which is a pivotal time to learn about such a subject.”
